TORONTO - A Health Canada warning that linked newer generation antidepressant drugs with suicidal thoughts in children and teens may have had an unintended and negative consequence, a new study suggests.
Suicides in children and teens in Manitoba rose by 25 per cent in the two years after Health Canada and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration warned that children and adolescents who took selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, might be at increased risk of experiencing suicidal thoughts.
This is so sad. Maybe its time the ambulance chasers turned their attention
on the people who keep blowing the issue out of proportion. But I guess
they probably aren't worth suing.
